Broadcom dell 1390 WLAN card on FC6

Hello!

My Wifi card doesn't work on lenovo notebook. Here are my parameters:

Code:

[root@localhost ~]# lspci|grep -i wireless
03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini-PCI Card (rev 01)
[root@localhost ~]# uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.18-1.2798.fc6xen #1 SMP Mon Oct 16 15:11:19 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
[root@localhost ~]# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.
[root@localhost ~]# lsmod|grep bcm43xx
bcm43xx              426305  0
ieee80211softmac      37313  1 bcm43xx
ieee80211              34825  2 bcm43xx,ieee80211softmac

I have read many advices such as this:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t...c-start-0.html

I installed bcm43xx-fwcutter by '
Code:

yum install bcm43xx-fwcutter
'
I downloaded windows driver, than used cab extract to get bcmwl5.sys,
and
Code:

bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware bcmwl5.sys
But WLAN card doesn't work. And iwconfig doesn' detect it. What I should do?

First, why follow advice and directions not meant for your version of Linux (gentoo vs Fedora Core)????.

Second, undo all of the work you did. Blacklist the bcm43xx and ieee80211softmac by adding them to the /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file.

Third, add the freshrpms-release rpm package to be part of your your yum configuration;

http://zod.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=118
rpm -Uvh http://zod.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=117

Then use yum to install the dkms-ndiswrapper package; yum install dkms-ndiswrapper

Use the Windows driver with ndiswrapper starting from the 'Install Windows driver' section;
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...,installation/

Make sure the /etc/modprobe.conf file has a line entry like: alias wlan0 ndisrwapper
make sure you have a /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-wlan0 file that looks like for example;

Code:

# Please read /usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt
# for the documentation of these parameters.
TYPE=Wireless
DEVICE=wlan0
HWADDR=
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
IPADDR=
NETMASK=
GATEWAY=192.168.1.1 <<--use the wireless routers internal IP address here or leave blank
DHCP_HOSTNAME=
DOMAIN=
ONBOOT=yes
ONHOTPLUG=no
USERCTL=yes
IPV6INIT=no
PEERDNS=yes
ESSID=
CHANNEL=
MODE=
RATE=

Thank you, Lenard.

I did all steps as you sad. Command

rpm -Uvh http://zod.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=117

didn't work, I downloaded this file:

http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrp....fc.noarch.rpm

and did rpm -i on it. Next I installed dkms-ndiswrapper by yum install dkms-ndiswrapper, installed driver by ndiswrapper -i file.inf, and did all corrections in all nesessary files as you sad.

But
Code:

[root@localhost vlasov]# modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.
[root@localhost vlasov]# iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth0      no wireless extensions.

sit0      no wireless extensions.

First sorry, I mistakenly linked the wrong thing, thanks for figuring this out and correcting the error.

You may need to reboot and/or reload the network service, you might have to first unload the bcm43xx driver before loading ndiswapper also. Try the following commands, the removal order may not be correct but you want do unload the three related bcm43xx modules;

modprobe -r ieee80211softmac
modprobe -r ieee80211
modprobe -r bcm43xx
depmod -a
modprobe ndiswrapper
service network restart

No, it isn't work.

[root@localhost ~]# modprobe -r ieee80211softmac
[root@localhost ~]# modprobe -r ieee80211
[root@localhost ~]# modprobe -r bcm43xx
[root@localhost ~]# depmod -a
[root@localhost ~]# modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.

As I can understand, after such message 'service network restart' is useless.
