How to Interface the SBC TS-5500 with PIC 18F4550

I have a big problem as i'm newbie in this Linux platform but my project for the final year project is regarding the interfacing between SBC and PIC.
First: I don't really do not know what to do once i get into Ubuntu Linux and how should i do it

Second: Is the interfacing between this SBC and PIC is difficult? can someone please help me, i really appreciate ur concern...
