thx that link answered my questions - i as well saw a lot of ppl in the RH9 forum and just assumed there was some reason ppl were using/still installing this distro - but it sounds like its a better idea to go with a newer distro.

RHEL 4 is what I would suggest because RHEL 3 may be reaching its end of life in the very near future.
