Why does Red Hat 7.2 not auto detect my connection as 7.1 does?
I had 7.1 installed for awhile, just trying to learn. So I did a format and installed 7.2 when it came out. Now when I first installed 7.1 I could click on the Knonquer (sp) browser and it would detect my internet connection and let me access the web. Now if I do the same thing within 7.2 it cannot resolve the host. Does anyone know why this happens in 7.2 when 7.1 did it for me? Since then I've reformatted again and installed 7.1 but I would like to use 7.2 again if I can get the Internet to work. Any ideas or opinions?
if your ethernet had no problems.. and it was a problem resolving the host, it might just be your DNS servers that you need to add to your /etc/resolv.conf file...
See that's just it. I really don't want to go through the trouble of another reinstall just to continue troubleshooting my Net connection when it works great in 7.1. I guess that's my only real option though, huh?
well, if its working in 7.1.. you can just upgrade what you might need from the differences between 7.1 and 7.2...
it sounds though when you had 7.2, it was just your DNS settings preventing you from browsing..
I'll try that next time I install RH. Currently, I'm installing Mandrake 8.1 to see what that is like. One of the network admins from work loves it and said I should give it a look.
