Thumbs down Why can't SystemRescueCD mount NTFS for write?

It only mounts NTFS as read-only file system... Even with "-w" argument.

The kernel NTFS driver is read-only. If you want read/write access, you need to mount it with NTFS-3G, not the "mount" command.

If you really need a complete NTFS Write support, you will have to use Ntfs-3g. It's very easy to use:

ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/windows

Provided you've already created the destination mount point, /mnt/windows, and which device is your NTFS drive, /dev/sda1.

The NTFS volume may have a "dirty flag". If that is the case, I would not force it to mount but rather get a boot cd with CHKDSK and run chkdsk /f, once that is done, you can mount it and write to it.
