First of: Hello, This is my first post here and I might have misplaced this post sorry in advance also my English is rubbish so I would also like to apologize for that.
Background information:
I have been asked to install a webserver which will run some specific ASP.NET applications which has an ACCESS-database. The problem I am ofcourse running into is that:
1. No support for Windows XP
2. The license the machine has is an Home edition which does not run IIS
Now ofcourse it's my sweet proposal to use Linux to the customer which to be frank is the best option in any case.
The meat:
Now the problem with the sheer list of distro's out there are there any that would be easily handled by a novice IT personal (like myself) and would be aimed at running an webdaemon? (since this system will not be connected to an network only access security will be an issue)
In a nutshell which would be some distros you guys/girls like to use for an webserver and would recommend me on terms of easy use?
Ofcourse if I need to install some extra stuff for ASP.NET support that is understandable. besides I know I could pick up any distro for setting this up but would like some more advanced users' opinions.
Your only choice is to purchase and install a version of Windows that you can run IIS on. The ASP.NET application may be runnable in Linux with Mono, but even then the database code would have to be rewritten to use something like MDB Tools.
