I've been looking lately for the source code to files belonging to various Linux distributions, and I cannot find it! I know that most things are split off and separate, but I'm talking about things that differ between distributions, like installers for instance. It seems like these open source projects should make such things available, but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The specific distro isn't all that important - I'm just interested, for academic purposes, in seeing how a big distro handles certain problems.
You have to look at the website for a specific distro. Here's what I found at the Mepis site (after a search for "source"): https://www.mepis.org/node/10725
Here's what I found for Arch: ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/sources/
I found this by going to one of the download links, and then moving up one directory.
People are required to make the source code available, but they are not required to make it easy!!
