What linux is best for my situation


i have a blank 1.3 gig hard drive i want to rewrite it what Linux will fit on it, Plz help. I know that ubutun doesn't fit because that need 2 gigs so what one will fit.

You actually could fit Ubuntu if you used the "Alternate CD" and then just did a base install. YOu'd get a text interface and then could sudo aptitude install only the applications that you want (xorg, probably a lightweight window manager like icewm, etc). Just stick with lightweight applications and you'd be okay.

Similarly, you can use Debian and do an install like this.

You could also install Damn Small Linux to the hard drive.

Have a look at distrowatch.com, they list about any Linux distro you could imagine.

Try Vector Linux, it doesn't take up much space. Might be OK.

I've installed Slackware to a minimal 400MB of space taken.. and that's the newer versions as well.
