Not sure if people have asked this before but I anyways:

What is the best version of Red Hat? 8 or 7.3 or... you get the idea? and what version is most people using? The most recent or are they sticking to the old more trusted version? o and last thing if you are still using the older version what is the reason behide it?

i started linux about 2 years ago w/ mandrake, it sucked so i stopped and used winbloze, whenever rh8 came out i started back, no problem w/ it. it is reliable, and usually go w/ the latest version of anything.

Red Hat 7.3 is the same as 8 except the packages are a little newer and the blue curve interface sucks in 8.
I put 7.3 on my wife's machine and went with Mandrake 9 on my workstation, I really like it. Red Hat for all it's goodness has alot of problems, they like to change install locations so when you compile things you have to figure out where the heck they put it all.
If your going to use RH I'd use 7.3, but that's just mho.

Oh... and for the mp3 thing, why use a dying compression format... use ogg vorbis, it gives you better sound quality for the same file size or slightly less.

You can check it out at their web site... www.vorbis.com
