What is the best distro for use behind a proxy server

Hello everyone,

What is the best distro for use behind a proxy server that requires authentication? I've recently tried out Fedora Core 6, and it's disgusted me the way I have to jump through hoops to get yum, yumex and pirut working (What's the point of having a Network Proxy preference if none of the programs look at it?)

Yes, I know, many people have had these problems and have posted solutions. I've only been able to get yum working correctly. Pirut only works from the command line for some damn reason.

Anyway, I want to look at a distro with better networking controls. Can anyone recommend one that they have successfully used with a proxy server?

I'm planning on dabbling with it to look at the possibility of replacing some of our systems at work with Linux. Basically, I need things easier to chop and change packages, so a Package Manager GUI rather than a command line tool would be a bonus.

I use Fedora at home with a direct internet connection. When it refuses to add packages unless it's connected to the net but cannot allow for a proxy server, I'm left scratching my head as to who thought this stuff up.

Thanks for your help.
