Ubuntu takes too much space I'm afraid. That automatically sets him out of the equation.
I'm currently downloading Archeee image, which takes ~2GB space.
After I make a bootable USB stick, how do i select the disk i want to install it in? Can i format it through the installer? Can i install Gnome and uninstall KDE? What do you guys advise in terms of space saving: Gnome or KDE?
If someone can add me on msn for faster help i will send you a pm with my email.
Thanks.
I do not think you read the links in my previous post. The Arch Beginner's Guide has everything you need to get a working Arch install (including how to install Gnome).
I personally would install Arch by following the Arch Beginners Guide, not something I downloaded from a random 2007 internet forum posting. You're free to do what you want, of course... it's your computer.
But i want some free space... I'm not going to install Arch Linux. Too complex to install atm, for me.
The Ubuntu Netbook Remix allows me to change the user interface to the normal ubuntu gnome?
I agree 100% that is your best option if you need to use Microsoft Office 2007.
I just thought of something, if you bought a 4gb+ SD card, could you maybe run Windows from the SSD and Ubuntu from the SD? Best of both worlds. My eee 900ha can boot from an SD card, not sure about your model...
Ya. I tryed using another tool and it worked. It booted. I tryed using LiveUSB(CD) and the Ubuntu loading screen appeared, and then something black and with white letters, a cmd screen, said it couldn't be mounted.
get a ubuntu CD ( it's free, give your location to this site ). This installation takes only 2.4 GB.
For installing wine see this site, & follow that procedure.
For installing MS office see my blog, follow that procedure.
