I've been having trouble with losing sound for the last 6 months or more think its something to do with PulseAudio cant work it out, decided to change distros I currently use magiea and mandriva before that. I like to use kde and are looking for a distro that will kde I mostly use my computer for surfing the net (want to use chrome) and watching movies and tv shows that I've downloaded so like to have vlc and mplayer available and use 2 screens.
Whats a simple reliable distro ? that doesnt have sound issues prefer a distro that doesn't use phonon or PulseAudio.
I used to have problems with sound on Slackware a few years ago. I also had problems with one distro I tested, now I don't remember if it was Suse or Mandriva. Anyway, I have been using Kubuntu then Lubuntu for a few years and have had no problem.
But lots of people have been using dozens of Linux distros with no sound problems, sou maybe you should just go to some Magea forum and try to troubleshoot your audio.
What always makes me stick to Ubuntu is:
- easy package management;
- excellent dependency resolution;
- very large number of packages in the official repository;
- I've never installed anything from the official Ubuntu repository that wouldn't work, something that happened frequently with Suse, and of course Slackware since most of the software I wanted was not available in the official repository and had to be obtained elsewhere.
maybe you should just go to some Magea forum and try to troubleshoot your audio.
What a good Idea , Ive been trying to do that for the last 3 months, not that any 1 ever helps me.
Where might a Mageia forum be that answers questions? I would really like to continue with mageia .
Unfortunately I m not very good at asking questions and theres not a lot of info about it.
Thanks for your recomendations currently downloading a few distros to Try.
Sorry I come across as rude.
