upgrade suse8 to9

I had a question, where suse does not give out iso's for their newest OS 9, can you get 8.2 and upgrade to 9 with all the updates off their website or would I still be missing lots of stuff to truely have suse9?

I upgraded from SuSE 8.0 to SuSE 8.1 the way that you describe. It worked OK and I ended up with all of SuSE 8.1 installed excepts parts of YaST2. SuSE withholds some of YaST2 (which is proprietary) from their free version as well as releasing their free version well after releasing the pay version.

I don't recommend upgrading SuSE this way because it is very time consuming. After running SuSE for three years I switched to Fedora Core 1. I think that after Red Hat reorganized their free version into Fedora Core 1 that the free version of Red Hat (Fedora) is much better for us free loaders than the free version of SuSE.

I still think that the pay version of SuSE is superior and cheaper than the pay Red Hat.
