up2date of RH9

anyone tried it??

i tried it and it showed some packages that it says it wont include in the update.

its the kernel with arch amd.
kernel doc for i386
kernelsrc for i386.

but on the startup it says that im on i686.

should i ugrade?

should i dl those 3?

btw im on athlon xp 1800+.

or should i skip those 3 and proceed with the updates of the other products?

my current is 2.4.20 -8. is it the latest?

I think the kernel needs to be done seperately. I386 will run perfectly well on an i686 - maybe RH use it as a generic name...?

I'm running 2.4.20-18.9 which I got via up2date. I downloaded the kernel seperately from everything else - I don't think the order matters.

If all 3 are there in up2date, I would do all 3. That's what I did.

Good luck - it takes a while to d/l and install. Don't forget to amend grub.conf or lilo.conf to comment out the old kernel and make the new one the default.
