Ubuntu 12.04 Fails to boot automatically after installation from Live CD

Hi All,

I am new to this, so kindly bear with me, if this question is stupid.

I installed Ubuntu 12.04 and the installation went on smoothly, but then whenever I restart, nothing but a blank screen with a blinking cursor shows up.

However, I can boot manually from the Live CD I had used to install Ubuntu.

Please suggest some solutions.

try the rescue mode

else

use the alternative installer cd

I get the feeling you have an AMD fusion cpu. In any case I suspect a video issue. Guess it could be acpi or power. Post specs of the system.

In anycase you need to kind of start some tests. Either boot to safe mode or boot to live cd to see /var/logs look for clues in the logs maybe.
