Gary
I may have been joking when I compared you to Ballmer, but I was being serious in the rest of that post.

Still your opinion! If you use a GNU/GPL product then you have already agreed to abide by the rules and guidelines by free use. Now if you use the same in any other form you are required to abide and include. Doesn't matter if you are a hobbyist, professional or whatever the user is required to abide and follow the required guidelines. We can continue on CopyRight © or even CopyLeft if you wish? At least within the U.S.A and not International for me since each has separate and distinct law.

If you're referring to my use of a Trademark or Copyright material., then yes. I'll use the marks properly. As for other Slacker's profile, if there's flagrant misuse then of course I would address that issue.

Yes, linus72 is not abiding by the GNU or GPL. Read it if you haven't already. He's passing things tagged as his own via the internet and;

Gratuitous? I don't think so.
My opinion!

I've seen requests for donations on many sites offering free software of all kinds.

Your point! Makes things right?
Possible solicitation?

My point? Obvious. Why are you singling him out for that particular thing? You're grasping at straws with this trivial fault finding.

I don't find fault in pointing out violations. You've got the right to ignore him or me. I will continue whenever fault or violations occur. By anyone.

BTW, no straws here, just won't turn my head away to ignore like some.

So you believe asking for donations to pay for upkeep of a website (or whatever) is a violation or wrong? Like I said, there's a lot doing it. Don't just single one out, tell them all they're at fault.

Hi,

My point was that you stated nothing but a hobby. I look at asking for donations as a form of solicitation. To answer you directly, "Charity begins at home".

I'm not going to police overall, but will work on violations within this environment and wherever I happen to notice violations.

Do you call the police whenever you see a violation of any kind or do you place a limiting factor for violations? Handle it personally by ignoring or action(s)? When you see someone throw a piece of litter on the ground? Do you say something or just ignore? Whenever a violator does something in plain view, how do you respond? Society & abiding rules of law seem to be on a slide in the wrong direction.

Apparently I handle things differently than you and most others but still do it in a polite manner. Personally I don't have a problem with issue(s) of this type when corrected properly. People can modify or customize all the want. Just do it right! Document & follow the agreements as provided. If a person wants to use something to aid or help others that is all right with me. BUT, show claim properly and don't take something that doesn't belong to you. Acknowledgment is good but not the proper means when dealing with materials that we a speaking of. Append properly and placement within documents as stated by the GNU/GPL.

Do you mean solicitation in the legal sense of the word? Option 4, first entry:

onebuck,
I still don´t understand what you you mean. I have made more than 70 Swedish remasters of different Linux systems. To me that´s what Linux is all about. Freedom and freedom to change a distribution to your liking. I never "pretend" that I have made a new unique Linux distribution. Just a modified one. Sometimes unique as such.

I'm not going to re-state what has been presented. Read my previous post(s).

Read the GNU/GPL and other references made.

Hey Linus72

great stuff you're doing

this was a snip of something you posted
quax's kernel sources already patched with aufs and squashfs3.4 are here
http://mirror.live-modules.org/quax/...el%2F2010.1%2F

I located this its 46MB patch!!! my text editor wont open it
patch-2.6.33-qx

do you have the separate patches used?
*I have patched the 2.6.27.7 kernel I am using with my special version I use
and aufs and squashfs were separate patches applied to the kernel not a massive patch

if you do have just the links to the separate patches that will be a great help

if you are curious what Im doing heres a peek http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=57484

linux is give and take and share so Im sharing this script
for slackware users (I use slackware too)
**I re wrote package tools in Xdialog so it looks nice in X
and has dependency checking (you may have a need for it its 100% slackware compatible) it is a stand alone app /script only dependency is Xdialog

package tools re write in Xdialog

updated because file check for txz and tgz doesnt work well as is but works on my machine
so I edited the code to by pass the check 10-7-2010

hey Big Bass
thats pretty cool, downloading it now and will check it out

as for kernels, etc
best one I am using is the 2.6.35.4 vanilla kernel with BFS,BFQ, and AUFS2/Squashfs-lzma patches

I got the vanilla kernel
got the aufs2/squashfs-lzma patches from here , fathom's slaxremix
http://www.slax.org/forum.php?action...parentID=66046

patches v08
http://ponce.cc/slax-remix/

bfs and bfq
http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/bfs/2.6.35/

http://algo.ing.unimo.it/people/paol...ed/sources.php

so, basically if you download the slackware version of nFluxOS it has everything you need
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...ml#post4096003
kernel
kernel modules
llls-6.3.0 modified
just install the kernel/modules onto a slackware current setup
and run the build script in /root/linux-live-6.3.0x86
and whammo new distro

or you want to compile it?
