I have an AMD 64 3200+ 1GB of ram and a 6600GT and would like to know how long it would take to do a stage 1 2 and 3 install of gentoo 2006.1. I only will be installing kde and the required packages for gentoo, no extra software because I can do that after. Thanks in advance.

There is no need to do a stage 1 or stage 2 install of Gentoo. The performance benefits aren't worth the time and effort necessary. In fact the recommended install for Gentoo is a stage 3 installation. The time it takes to perform the install is dependent on a couple of things:

1. Your hardware configuration. If you have slow hardware it will take longer to compile.
2. Your comfort level with linux and the command line. If you are serious about doing this read the handbook on the Gentoo website a few times before attempting the install.
