Hi,

I am using SuseFirewall2 on a Suse 9.1 Prof. server with 2 NiCs.

The key lines from the firewall config file are:

FW_AUTOPROTECT_SERVICES is set to yes.

FW_SERVICES_EXT_TCP = "53 22 80"

FW_SERVICES_EXT_UDP = "53"


From client machines on the LAN, I can ssh to the server using both the LAN and WAN ip addresses.
When I try to access SSH from another location, I get connection timed out. It seems that SuseFirewall is not opening port 22 for world access.

However, ports 53 and 80 are open and work fine.


Has anybody else come across this? Is there any way I can see further what is going on?

I had disabled port 22 in my router's firewall some time ago and had forgotten about it.

A stupid mistake by me. It all works fine now.
