SUSE9 and scsi adapters
 

I got a 'hybrid' pc (ide hdd and dvd's and scsi cd's) - PIII dual 866 MHz - and trying to boot from the suse 9 first cd on the scsi cd; system bios detects it as a bootable cd but soon after that it reboots and so on and so on... It does work however when inserting the suse 9 cd in the dvd drive. Am I doing something wrong or I need to "work" on it?
I need to mention that suse 8.1 first cd booted fine on the same machine a while ago, the problem I had then was that after the whole installation (which 'looked' fine) finished and rebooted the pc, I got some scsi related errors when installing the drivers during first bootup (the scsi adapter is a Adaptec 3940W - dual channel scsi) and it's supported ok by Linux.

Ok, you have a SCSI DVD ROM drive? Or a SCSI cdrom drive? Try doing this. Set you IDE DVD ROM as the primary boot master instead of your cdrom drive (which is assume is scsi), and try that. That should fix your problem.

Yes it is a IDE DVD ROM drive and a SCSI CDROM drive. Thank you very much, I'll try what you've suggested.

Well it didn't work the way you suggested unfortunatelly. Even after setting the DVD (ide) as boot master it does the same. I'll try to install it from the dvd, until find out how the scsi drives need to be handled. Any idea how to create bootable flopppies and/or cd's in suse9 as I try to avoid the dual boot with XP? Also would it be a good idea to use vmware to install suse9 on top of XP, considering my h/ware configuration (ide+scsi); vmware 'asks' these kind of questions when running the setup?
