SuSE Kinternet - manual configuration?
Where is Kinternet's config file located?
I'm trying to do 2 things: -set the interval between modem's dialout calls (atdt..) -set PAP/CHAP how do I do this? |
I belive what you want to do is enter YaST2 and select network devices-modem. Configurations in this module should be read directly by kinternet
|
I know that, but what I need cannot be set through YAST2.

Kinternet (and cinternet - the command line version) get their info from the file /etc/smpppd.conf
see "man smpppd" and "man smpppd.conf" for more information This should help you do what you need. |
>Kinternet (and cinternet - the command line version) >get their info from the file /etc/smpppd.con
not there either :( I need settings for the dialer. Apparently, kinternet relies on wvdial, but my /etc/wvdial.conf is practically empty (none of my custom providers are there). Besides, "man wvdial.conf" doesn't mention a way to set any of the things I'm looking for. Is it possible that the great SuSE linux cannot set a simple thing like redial interval? |
You could try configuring kppp, but it's a bit of a pain in SuSE. Check out /etc/ppp. You'll find the pap and chap secrets files there. Check the SuSE knowledge base for the Howto on getting this to work properly. I always used kinternet and/or cinternet in SuSE. KPPP was much easier to get working in RH and Slack. You'll also find entries for redial times in the KPPP setup gui.
