Everything went fine after I switched to ps2 peripherals.

After the install, I connected the usb keyboard/mouse and it was detected and configured by YaST with no problem.

Note: It was a good thing that Tuvok posted the numerical IP of the server because when I pinged it, I got nothing.

I also tried ftp://mirror.mcs.anl.gov from my iBook and got: "unknown host".

pilotgi,

Glad you made it. Pinging to get a numerical IP address is pretty straightforward; for instance to ping this site, you type in shell or terminal:

ping www.linuxquestions.org

To ping the Suse Chicago server, you type:

ping mirror.mcs.anl.gov

When pinging, you don't have to precede with "http://" or "ftp://." There're even three other commands which are better than "ping":

host mirror.mcs.anl.gov (this command is fastest and easiest)
or
nslookup mirror.mcs.anl.gov
or
dig mirror.mcs.anl.gov

That's what I was doing wrong.

I just want to say THANKS TUVOK!

Thanks for pointing out the Chicago ftp mirror.

I was in the middle of a Suse FTP install from the suse ftp and it was DRAGGING along. I cancelled it...no easy task...had to hard shutdown the machine...and starting the installation over with the Chicago ftp.

My friend ran to McDonalds just before i cancelled the initial install and he's not back yet...it's already surpassed the initial install by 7%!!!

Thanks!
