SuSE 9.1, YOU can't check for updates

Hi, I recently moved into an appartment complex where all the appartments are connected via ethernet to a DHCP server.
The internet connection is working fine, but Yast Online Update and the susewatcher are unable to check for updates.
How can I fix this? I don't think it's because of closed ports, because FTP works (doesn't YOU use FTP?), and apt4rpm (apt-get) also works just fine.

maybe too simple a sollution, but just in case: have you configures a resver for yast/YOU to look on?

Not sure if it's your problem. I'm running SuSE 9.0 and haven't been able to get YOU to check for updates in the last week. This has happened a number of times in the past, generally for a couple of days. Perhaps it's the group at SuSE that's shutting the link down periodically? How about others out there giving feedback?

Ugh. I feel like such a newbie... .... wait, I am a newbie! Your suggestion solved the problem, linmix. Appearently the FTP server I was using before doesn't provide SuSE anymore.

Thanks for your replies!
