Suse 9.1 thinkpad t20 help please!!
 

i have tried alot of distros recently but all of them very briefly, i am a newbie and no bugger all really about linux, the only reason i can get my wireless to work in any distro pretty much is because of some code someone wrote on one of my other posts and it never fails, has my card up and running in minutes, but my real problem with suse 9.1 which is what i want to really use to get started in is that i can only ever seem to get my thinkpad tft lcd 1024*768 monitor on my laptop to show as 800*600 and i get errors when i try selecting the ibm thinkpad tft lcd 1024*768 in the control panel in suse so what do i do, i have installed it about 3 times the last one being an ftp install, so if anyone can help or has it working on a ibm thinkpad t20 or similar help much appreciated.

btw - to run alongside win xp with minimal storage space as just for playing around on till i get good with it and confident enough to make the switch.

Have you tried looking under YaST2 -> Hardware -> Graphics Card and Monitor? Click on 'Change' and it is pretty easy from there.

well currently i have knoppix installed but ive f****d that up trying to make windows the default boot after the install so now only windows loads, so i will try installing suse again onto the partitions i made for knoppix and see what happens, i just want to be ale to boot into linux on occassion till i am completely happy with it.

Well, when you reinstall SUSE, try pressing F2 at the CD-ROM boot prompt, (where you can choose 'Boot from Hard Disk', 'Install', 'Install - No ACPI', etc.) and select the desired resolution there. That might just answer everything. :)

Just don't give up on Linux quite yet! If you are like me, you will someday wonder how you could have even survived on anything else.
