The link on Linuxiso is to pick up the cd to do a network install over the internet. Have you checked for cheap linux cd sites? They often send them out for a few dollars/pounds/local currency units.
man you don't need the CD's.. Follow the instructions for an FTP install... I just did it for the first time on my notebook with SuSE 9.1 Professional... it's a 23 MB Bootable ISO image and then you connect up to the site... I did a full install with all Desktop environments available from that except for Gnome (KDE, FVWM, IceWM, XFCE, BlackBox, etc.) Plus I installed MySQL, Apache, all games, OO.o, and more... The whole thing took a little less than an hour on my Cable connection... Quit worrying about ISOs... you don't need them... I actually bought SuSE 9.0 Professional when it cameout so I could have just installed than and then upgraded.. But I wanted to try the FTP... and it's quite pleasing... So... I guess if you want the ISOs that bad... I can burn copies of 9.0 Professional for you... I have the 5 CD set and the DVD...
But honestly... it's juts easier to do the FTP install.. and SuSE has incredible Hardware detection... (I did my FTP install via a Linksys Wireless Card) and it even knew exactly the model of my notebook (HP Pavilion ze5200) and that is THE ONLY distro I have seen do that!! I've used on this notebook:
I am a light weight in these matters and was glad to find someone who had installed SUSE on a laptop via ftp.
I have a Dell Latitude XPi P100SD upon which I would like to place SUSE 9.1 Professional. My Network connection is via a Siemens Speedstream wireless B network card connecting to my Lynksys router going onward to the DSL connection.
Having done a search on the hardware database I found nothing regarding the support of the Dell Latitude XPi 100SD. I do not know if that means it will not work or we just have never tried it.
The Dell does not have the ability to boot from a CD but does have a floppy. Do I connect using a DSL connection. How do I do an install via ftp? Do I need to create some sort of boot disk? Can the boot disk identify the wireless network card?
Appreciate and help you can provide.
Bob

I've downloaded the ISO file for Suse 9.1 Personal and managed to install it successfully without any hitch on my Fujitsu lifebook. However, Im confused as to the packages that comes with this free distro. I tried to do a "make" and "make install" for this software I downloaded and it returned a message could not find command: make ??!
Is the free distro completely useless allowing us to just have a feel of the OS??? Help anyone? greatly appreciated thanks.
yes exactly. i also downloaded the same and found out the same thing. i guess personal is not to develop any programs. and i assume suse professional is required for it. as a result i am trying to download it but unable to do it until now. i copied the boot iso file to install suse. during installation it asks for the ip address to download the required files, which i dont know. could someone tell me the address? any help would greatly be appreciated.
