SuSE 9.1: Did Update, Now Can't Get In!
Okay, I ran YaST Online Updates and told it to go ahead and do all the updates it wanted to. Everything seemed to go fine. I then did a reboot, just to make sure everything was in order. Apparently it wasn't, because now I can't login.
I saw the SuSE boot screen, chose "Linux", and then I go into text mode. What I can see that looks like error messages are: VFS: mounted root (reiserfs filesystem) readonly. Trying to move old root to /initrd ... failed Unmounting old root It then asks me for a login and password. If I give it "root" I get: FATAL: cannot change permissions of TTY: Read-only filesystem It then asks for password. I give it root's password and get the "Have a lot of fun!" message, and then it immediately asks for a login again. Subsequently, I am not having a lot of fun. What should I be doing here? Thanks. |
FYI, A lot of times if you go to google and type in the error message, it will give you a link to a string someone has already posted with the same problem. Most of the time the string will point here at this very site. I put in your error message and got this link. Hope it helps
