High all,
I`ve upgaded from SuSe 7.1 to SuSE 8.0.
Reason: need Kdevelop 2.1 (with KDE3) for crosscompiling.

Problem:
KDE applications simply hang at any stage of processing.
e.g. kdevelop hangs during generating a new project,
kmerge hanging during processing of diff, etc.

there are no error messages. KDE3 continues working.
A "killall" of the hanging application from a new V-terminal
works.
I`ve upgraded all installed packages by using the online update
feature of yast.

Has anyone an idea where to start searching for the reason?
Anyone similar experiance?
Does it make sense to do a complete reinstallation of SuSE 8.0
(would not like to do this, because it takes days of work to
reassemble the working environment)?

I`m not THE KDE freak. Up to now I simply used it as a tool.

Any hint would be welcome.

I suggest you go for a complete format and reinstall....

suse8 has many new features and is much different from the previous ver. and especially from one 2 versions old....

So I would go for a new installation If I was in your position.
