what distros have you tried? what kernel?
is your system configured for RAID(any level)?
also check your BIOS and make sure it's recognized there unless you have another OS installed on it and are able to boot to it.
if you've done any troubleshooting list what you've tried to avoid suggestions to repeat those steps
I use Suse, and both 10.1 & 10.2 have no problem with my SATA controller
I've also tried FC6, Puppy, and Ubuntu (all the variants), all work fine for me.

Check the linux hardware compatibility list for your sata drive.

I don't have this particular device, but other people have reported success with Mandriva and the "noacpi" kernel option. Other distros will probably support it too.
