Does anyone know the status of Leeenux (http://www.leeenux-linux.com/)? I know the site was up this past weekend, but it's been down since at least Monday. I was going to use it on an old netbook, but not sure if the project is dead or not.
It does not look like the site is actually DOWN, but that it is broken. Hard to tell if they broke it, or if it hsa been hacked. If you can use torrent to grab it, you might check http://linuxtracker.org/?page=torren...ory=0&active=0 and see if you can pick it up that way.
Thanks wpeckham. You're right that it started looking broken... yesterday I think? On Monday it showed an error message that made it look like the site had been disabled. I didn't record the actual error message - over limits, hosting not paid, something like that. Then the DB error has been showing ever since.
I remember their site not having any official forums, contact email, etc... So I was kinda just hoping that maybe someone in contact with the project would stumble upon me here. I can try something else for the old Aspire I need to resurrect, just thought this one looked useful.
Distrowatch lists it as active, but I see the site currently has "Error establishing a database connection".
Is the a particular reason for using Leeenux? There used to be several netbook specialists, but they all seem to have faded with the hardware. AntiX is very good and extremely light http://antix.mepis.org/index.php?title=Main_Page
Thanks DavidMcCann - Nah, I downloaded the "games" version of it to verify that it worked OK on the system I need to rebuild (currently running a horribly out-of-date version of EasyPeasy). I've already started looking for other alternatives, and have been leaning towards trying out antiX. Thanks for the confirmation!
If AntiX does not do it for you, I might suggest Q4OS.
If you need quite cutting edge stuff, the other alternative is Sparky Linux.
I might also mention VSIDO, though I have found it a bit less stable than Sparky it is a favorite of mine.
Thanks for all the additional suggestions. I'll probably create a bootable thumbdrive with antiX and go from there. I also saw some suggestions for Manjaro elsewhere, but it doesn't appeal to me as much. For this particular system, stability and basic functionality is much more important than cutting edge.
