Smallest Installable Linux Distro.

I'm looking for the smallest installable distro. of Linux that will work with my Old Compaq Presario Laptop.

200Mhz Cyrix Processor
32MB Ram
NeoMagic Video Card Max Res (800x600) SVGA
2 GIG HD
(but would like the smallest HD intall distro no CD/Knoppix, unless it can be installed to the local HD)

I need to maximize the HD space. I've tried Damn Small Linux and like what it has to offer but it doesn't like my video card much. I would like to run X-server with any GUI really I'm not to picky, but I would like a GUI based MP3 player :).

Thanx in advanced...

Knoppix can go to your hd, but it will take most of your 2gb.

Zipslack is small (100mb), and with X just add 150mb. www.slackware.com

Yeah, Knoppix gives me the same results as Damn Small Linux, since it is a cut verion of Knoppix. Although I havn't tried ZipSlack...Looks like I'm off to DL it and give it a whirl, thanks for the advice I'll let you know...

Perhaps you could boot SLAX with the Fluxbox windowmanager option and try that, or look at Morphix LightGUI.

I looked into SLAX the minimum install is 64MB of RAM I only have 32 and I'd rather not wait 5 minutes for the Laptop to boot. I'm really looking into many different Distros with no luck really...

Then take a look here:
Maybe there's something to your liking there.

Note : The older ones(pre-VL3) don't come as an ISO but need to be installed with the help of the "INSTALL.TXT"
