small distro with grub 2

I am testing something on virtualbox and for that I need a small distro ( the smaller the better) , that is installable on a HDD and has grub 2. any ideas?

Almost any of the Ubuntu derivatives should work for you, for example wattOS or Bodhi Linux.

You will get the smallest install if you get the Debian netinstall CD and when it comes to the software selection just de-select all entries.
