I'm currently running Windows XP. Would you be able to run the script from the Live CD? |
I think slax will do it. Of all the live distros slax was by far the fastest I tried. It can be run from usb or cd.

Oh
yes you must run the script from ubuntu/xubutnu,etc system or livecd the script is almost automatic you only have to choose what apps, etc it takes a few times till you know how to do it without issues but its pretty easy and you can learn alot getting ready to test lxde iso I made now 400MB with easycrypt/gdecrypt how do I install truecrypt? its not in repos? |

OK
it'll be ready in morning I got truecrypt in it too |
Check out their website. http://www.slax.org/ It's a distro that is intended to be run as a live distro, not as a try out. If you run it on usb you can save your data on to the usb thumb drive, so it works like a hard drive based install. In addition it is as quick as some of the standard distros available. I'm not sure what you are wanting the live distro for, but if it's to do more than just taste various distros then I would definitely test drive it. Live cd's are generally going to be slower than the installed version (in my experience) so it's kind of misleading. Slax was just QUICK from the get go. It's based on slackware like ubuntu is based on debian. My experience with slax led to me going full time with slackware which I absolutely do not regret. The instructions for getting up and going with slax are on the website.
