RTCW for linux and sound

I have wolfenstein working in linux, when it boots it has no sound. Im using gnome and the sound works fine in that and i have SOF and the sound is working in there too. I have the sound loading as a kernel module right now.
When i start RTCW i get a message that says "your sound card cat do this" Does anyone know how to get sound working in wolfenstein when you get this message? Could this be caused by using a modules instead of having it directly compile in the kernel. Or will I have to get a new card?
