root account in FC11 x86_64
I installed FC11 (x86_64) absolutely love it such a change from FC8... I actually for the second time in my experimenting with Linux distros got WINE to work and it works BEAUTIMUSLY!!!
HOWEVER, my main grump is this: I can log into my user account from the login screen (the gui), but I have no listing for 'root' to log in and change the system as root without having to go into the system as 'user'
and use only the cmdline. As user I cannot change the permissions or view files owned by root and edit or move etc,.. is this a specific design change in FC11 -64? Or is it I am missing a point here?
This also precludes me from a lot of admin access... it denies me entry even as 'root' in the cmdline.
Suggestions... any reply of substance would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. AND it is a bit 'buggy' in the FCE4 dept. as well.
root login in gui environment is not permitted, but you can
use su or su -c '<command>' for root powers in CLI
see the fedora 11 user guide too
Thank you for the reply Amani, maybe I will get this config'd before too long.
Beats the alternative... (WinXPpro...)
I guess it helps to read the instructions first... eh?
I have been doing so much research in various areas of work I do that I was just a bit burned out on reading, and thinking. Thank you so much for your input.
Thank you - ~8)
