redhat9 istall problems

the Red Hat CD-ROM is not found in the drive ..but its in the cd drive?

any ideas

which environment are you in while you try to install?? windows or linux??? and if you are in the second ,when the disk is in cdrom, under terminal ,try to this command:

mount /dev/(your cdrom driver's name) /mnt/cdrom ,may be it works, and if you are in the windows, perhaps you have to check your cdrom driver will work properly

i am trying to install it on two pc's...one on linux and the other on windows

Did you create the ISOs? Or did you buy it? If you indeed downloaded the ISOs and burnt the cds, you have to check the following.

1) Compare the MD5SUMs of the files before burning them

2) You should choose the option 'Create CD from an ISO image file' option that is available in ur CD creating software like Roxio, Nero, etc.,

i have installed mandrake 9.1 and got to say it looks very nice. the cd for red hat that i buned the iso's onto was correct.

on one of my pc's mandrake sed the cd could not be found but in the other it worked.

maby the cd-rom is not detected / supported

try burning at a slower speed or burning it on a cd-rw cd. I had a similar problem and the cd-rw disc did the trick - then a month later, my cd rom drive died, lol.

my cd-rw cd drive wont burn cd-rw for some reason...but ill try the burnin at a slower speed. what speed did you do - i was doing them at 8x
