Does anyone know if RH9 offers NTFS support out of the box this time around? Thanks,

All distro's will provide support for NTFS as it lies within the kernel really. If it doesn't come precompiled from the install, you can always recompile to add the support.

I read something about Mandrake 9.1 being able to install on an NTFS filesystem, but RH 9 did not have this ability because RH is less liberal than Mandrake.

I mean can it mount a NTFS Drive during install? RH8 made you install a module to get the support and I never could get it to mount automatically. So can it mount a NTFS drive?

you should have been able to mount an NTFS partition in RH 8, same with RH9. Mandrake 9.1 includes RESIZING of NTFS during install, i would be cautious with this though, Mandrake doesn't always test things as much as they should. Mandrake also automatically mounts your NTFS for you after installation, RH 8 and 9(i don't have an NTFS setup on my RH 9 machine) you'll have to set it up in /etc/fstab yourself

redhat 8 or 9 do not bring NTFS support by default for rh 8 you could just get an rpm to install add support but the modules rpm is not done yet for rh9 so youll have to recompile the kernel for rh 9.

Redhat doesn't include NTFS support by default because of some legal problems they' ve been having with microsoft.
