Redhat 8 on OLD machine video card trouble

I am trying to set up a dedicated web server on an old machine. This machine is a '95 Gateway with 32MB RAM, 166Mhz (go ahead laugh), and a 2MB video card.

When I boot up, it goes through all the start up and all, but when Redhat tries to load up the GUI, the screen flickers and then (the monitor) goes into idle mode. I thought it was the resolution at first, set to 1024x768, so I set it back to 640x480 by typing
"linux --resolution 640x480" at boot. The monitor appeared to act a little differently, actually coming back on, but when the text login prompt came up and the GUI started, the monitor when blank again.

If this is a case of a poor excuse for a video card, does it mean I'll have to install in text mode?

Thanks for the help.

what is wrong with installing in text mode? is something as small as that really that important? it's certainly no more difficult.

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with it, the frown was more of a joke. Is installing in text-mode my best bet?

This has nothing to do with LFS, moving to the main Distro forum.
