Recommend Host OS for vmware server

I am seeking a good linux host OS for vmware Server to use in a test/internal network environment. Ideal host OS would meet the following criteria:

1. Easy to install
2. Easy to setup vmware server
3. Small distribution, ie. under 250MB
4. Good hardware detection - I don't have lot of time to spend on this currently.

As far as I know, the only three software packages I right out need are the following:

1. sshd
2. Xorg
3. vmware server

I spent some time searching google, and DSL and Puppy linux seem like they would fit the bill well, however I can't find any information about how easy/difficult it is to get vmware server running on them.

Thanks in advance for any input y'all can offer.

Hi JevidL,

Really any current linux distro with a 2.6 kernel should run vmware awesome! We like Debian over here because its base can be installed quite small but you might want to check out DamnSmall Linux too.

hmm, I'll look into this more. Do you happen to know if vmware requires xorg?
