Question about Distro Selection
Hello, I am currently trying to decide what Linux Distro I should get for my school computer. The main Hardware specs are below. If anyone could help me please pick. I am not new to the linux community, I'm just not very keen on 'good' distros and 'bad' distros with my hardware.
Asus P4C800 Deluxe MB 2.4 GHz P4 Processor (w/ HT) 1 GB RAM 80GB SATA Drive 40GB IDE Drive A CD burner and A DVD drive but hopefully soon buying a DVD+-RW 3Com LOM (sk98lin drvier) Asus Video Card (on AGP) GE Force 5700 Chipset 128 MB RAM Creative Sound Card And a printer... Thank you for help in this matter :o) |
OK I have no idea why nobody jumped on this one...
I always recommend SuSE. you can get the iso of the personal version or ftp install the pro version from a mirror near you... if you've got an internet connection of sufficient speed. if you're ambitious and want to install it on more than one box, I'd say download the installer folder and install from that. 7.2gb though, so maybe if you're just trying it then ftp install first. that's just my opinion though. |
