Question PSX Parallel Pad and Red Hat 9

Well, I'm posting here so that hopefully someone can aid me in my little problem.

I'm using Red hat 9, I want to set up Red Hat so that my PSX Parallel pad works always without having to manually install the module every time I boot. There are two possible ways I can do this, but I don't know how under Red Hat 9.

1- Disable the module called "lp" and install modules "joydev" and "gamecon" with gc=0,7 as the default options for gamecon.

or

2- Make "joydev" and "gamecon" with options gc=0,7 load before the "lp" so that lp does not take over the parallel port.

Now I know, what I need to do, but I do not know HOW do I go doing this under Red Hat 9.

Does anyone know what files I need to modify or Program I need to run so that I can sucessfully setup my gamepad as described in either one of the 2 options above? Any help would be appreciated?
Thanks in advance.

P.S. Remember I wan't this PERMANENTLY set up this way, not configure it manually after every boot.

About you're Playstation PSX PSOne PS1 PS2 Pad on the printer / parallel / lp / LPT port:

Yeah... it seems lp loads by default (who needs a LPT printer?) At least in Mandrake 10.0 MDK 10.0 Mandrake10.0

I'll figure this out soon enough... but for now:

KEEP IN MIND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I"M DOING! THIS SORT OF WORKS!
[user&localhost dev]# su (log in as root)
[root@localhost dev]# rmmod lp (remove local printer module) <--- absolutely essential

[root@localhost dev]# rmmod joydev (remove any previous joystick drivers) - probaly not needed

[root@localhost dev]# rmmod gamecon (remove any previous psx modules) - probably not needed

might need this, but i didn't ---> [root@localhost tres]# insmod joydev (or modprobe joydev, i can't remember)

[root@localhost dev]# modprobe gamecon gc=0,7 <---- absolutely essential

[root@localhost tres]# jscal -c /dev/js0 (calibrate the joystick - need jstest for callibration to work!) <---- this will let you know if it's working (CTRL+C to cancel)

something like that

*HINT WHEN CALLIBRATING: It'll ask for minimum and maximum, it's referring to left and up on the axis (minimum) down and right (maximum). Took me forever to figure that out!

More to come.

Note: Please leave you're success stories here!
