problems getting x to work on debian 3.0
just installed debian 3.0 after mandrake quit working, and I'm having some trouble getting x to start. I get a message in the log file that says "Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration." The funny thing is that the configuration program appears to start x and then run the graphical interface to tweak the mouse, monitor and keyboard settings, all at the resoultion I want (it appears). I think this problem may be because the version of xfree86 that is isntalled is 4.1 and I am pretty sure that it doesn't support my radeon 7500 card (but then why would it work so nicely for the configuration utility?). I am clueless.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also if the latter is the case, how can I use apt-get to install xfree86 4.3?
