He didnt finish in that he told me that it will finish installing something.. then i need to type this, then that etc... i followed his instructions exactly, and i got an error that some file was missing, and it wasnt like linux was installed on five partitions, he made about five partitions and installed on only one....I realize that its difficult to learn, and how the basics dont use any windows, but I do realize enough about it to know that it wasnt finished installing or bieng setup .... i ended up reformating the drive and putting Windows longhorn beta on it but as soon as i get another couple of drives im going to make a RAID and install linux on my second computer. I've barely used linux and already i love it too much to give up .... thanks for the help and advice

Hey now Debian is NOT all that difficult to learn.

If you want to stick with Debian I suggest the DebianOure cd. It is a single cd install. You can choose either KDE or Gnome for your desktop.

Don't let anyone scare you off. Spend a few minutes/hours/days reading the available documentation. Debian -- Documentation

A few Debian based distros that are easy to install and setup are:
Xandros
Ubuntu (LiveCD)
MEPIS (LIvecd)
Kanotix (ALso a livecd)
Knoppix (Super All-in-One LiveCD)

I jumped right into the deep end myself with Debian. Just be patient and learn to use <Linux> - Google Search.

Welcome to the fun and exciting world of Linux.

Resistance is Futile:
