PIII 550Mhz 64Mb ram 4GB HDD, best distro?
Please help me chose best distro for my config,
PIII 550Mhz // 64 Mb ram // 3 - 4 GB HDD.
I've used RH 7.1 , Knoppix, DSL, and Ubuntu (all HDD installs).
Knoppix 4.0 is too slow with latest KDE (though it speeds up with ICEWM.)
I'd rate Knoppix, RH, Ubuntu then DSl..
Installation difficulty doesn't matter, but i'd really like ease of configuration and HW auto-detection like that of knoppix.
Please advise best distro.
I'd prefer something that has max 1 - 2 cd's to dl.

Gentoo and Slackware can be customized to work well on your computer. By default Suse is bit of a dinosaur though. Vector and Puppy Linux are my top picks.
