Smile package-Linux Distrubutions


Is it possible to install a package in all linux distributions?for eg:if i install a package in RedHat,is it possible to install the same package in Debian,DreamLinux,Fedora,Mandrake,Slackware,Ubuntu,etc.

You can compile source code in any distribution. Some packages are made to install in either rpm or deb distros, like .bin files.

Unclear question.

If you mean by package something like a .deb or a .rpm file, no. Although yes is also a possible answer, if you count converting the package to the applicable type with alien.

If by package you mean 'a collection of source codes', the answer is probably yes, provided that you can compile and have the appropriate libraries available..
