nvidia and knoppix

I have the Knoppix Hacks O'Reilly book and hack #28 is Install Nvidia 3D drivers.
It explicitly mentions installing the propriatry drivers into RAM.
I really want to try this, before I comit to hard disk install but I can not find the options it refers too.

The book used Knoppix 3.4. On the Knoppix 3.9 disk you should have an icon of a fat penguin on the taskbar, you should find what you need there.
