noob - Looking to install gentoo on dual PPro box
 

I have a compaq 2500 Dual PPro 200 box with 128mb ram and 2 4 gig HS scsi drives.. Now I can get it to boot the live CD now problem and get it to start compiling, but it is sooo slow.

I was hoping that there is a way for me to use my VMWare software to compile the kernel on my P4 machine and transfer it afterwards..


I did alot of google searching, and found a couple of places that talked about it.. but none had step by step instructions.. one talked about ramdisks and archiving the file system of the vmware box install.


So what I am hoping to do is run the live cd in vmware and compile the kernel for the 2500 box. then transfer the files over.


If anyone knows a site that has step by step instructions or can help me that would be awesome...


EDIT I think I have found a way to do it... Some sites are calling it a Stage4..

I guess in a few hours I will know if it works...
