I need to get a live linux boot CD with MAME on it.. and not a framebuffer one like AdvanceCD, but a regular X11 version with perhaps a light desktop such fluxbox or icewm. Yes, I know I could start remastering knoppix or morphix to make my own CD like this... but I figure there is one like this out there already.
I'm not sure but maybe KnoppixMame hits your needs: http://sourceforge.net/projects/knoppixmame
Possibly you'll have to remasterize the .iso to include your roms, if needed.

I've actually already tried knoppixmame and I can't even get it to boot. It crashes on startup when trying to load filesystems. The project seems to be abandoned... as the last update is from 2004. But, something like knoppixmame is what I am looking for. Just need something that's active and updated.
