need help

I'd hate to upset anyone, but I need some help with a distro question, it became impossible for anyone to answer it before.

What's a decent distro for Dell laptops?

--thanks

It all depends on what you want. heavy video editing or just browsing the web, or anything in between.
Say what you want.
BTW, use what fits your needs.

I do not intend to start a flame war or distro war here. I do want to say that I have used Gentoo on both a Dell Inspiron 1150 and a Dell Inspiron 5100. If you could narrow down the type of Dell you're looking at, we could take a more objective look at hardware support for your laptop. Also: what distributions do you LIKE to work with? What will you be using it for? Just general word-processing, etc. tasks?

Stop with so many posts regarding the same subject. It's annoying. One thread is enough. If you are not happy where the thread is, click on the Report this post to a moderator button and ask it to be moved. Since you've got a few of your threads closed _and_ have been warned twice to do not double post, I believe you are doing this mess on purpose...

Its a Dell Inspiron 8500. I'm mainly looking for something that will have decent hardware support, I'm not too fond of searching for device drivers . It'll be mostly for web and playing music. I'm most familiar with Mepis and Fedora (yes i'm a newb) but I'm willing to try other distros.

thanks...
Stu

Give Gentoo a shot. 'EMERGE' should have pretty much any driver you could want available for you.

Drivers are included in the Linux kernel and most distributions come with ten versions of every type of program.

Wow. I've never seen a user blow up quite like that. Kinda amusing, really. The sheer volume of posts here requires moderation, courtesy, and respect: both by users and by the moderators. If everyone posted a half dozen threads going "help me with my problem", nobody would ever get anywhere.
