my PCLOS gives only 800x600 resolution

Is PCLOS Minime supposed to have only 800x600 screen resolution? That's the only resolution mine can get when configuring the desktop. My other distro, MEPIS 8, offers up to 1024x768. I hope this isn't normal, because I'm not settling for an 800x600 display on a monitor that can do 1680x1050.

You probably need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf to specify the correct video driver and other things. One way to do this is to run xorgconfig in a terminal.

What is your video card?

I would have thought that PCLOS would automatically do all this, but perhaps not with "Minime"

Okay, I just dug out my motherboard manual. (I don't run anything graphics-intensive, so I didn't buy this mobo for its graphics card, and wouldn't remember what it is. All I knew was that it's integrated.) It says the graphics card is a GeForce 8100 chipset. 512 MB memory.
