must Linux be reinstalled after replacing mb/cpu?

Hello,

I want to replace my old motherboard and CPU with new ones (AMD Duron ---> AMD Athlon). Do I need to reinstall Linux completely after doing this (as it is recommended for Windows)?
I'm just using SuSE 9 with the standard kernel configuration.

No you should not need to reinstall -- I can say for sure, having just replaced my aged P3/450 with a new AthlonXP+ mo/bo, plus changed network card and display card -- the last 2 required a little configuration change, but the CPU/MB change went absolutely smoothly.

Yeah, Linux is amazing at this. You could do an install on an old machine, whip out the HD and stick it into a totally different machine and it'll work almost perfectly everytime. At least everytime I've done this. Kudzu just says "I found this, this is gone, found a couple of these" and then boots your baby up. Unlike our other favorite operating system where if you swap the MB you get a beautiful BoD on boot.
