Multiple Boot - Multiple Distros
I have Mandrake 8.2, and Win98, Win2000 on same hard disk. I bought another hard-drive, and wanting to install Gentoo linux.
1) Can these 2 distros co-exist?
2) if so; can i have these 2 distros share partition(s) btwn them; i.e. atleast swap partition? if so; how do i do that?
BTW I have LILO on MBR. what do i have to do; to make LILO boot my Gentoo linux?
Thanks in Advance!!

1. Yes, I have had up to 3 distros installed once before, some here claim to have more than that.
2. Yes, they can share the same swap. There wouldn't be any reason to ever create more than one swap space.
And yes, you could configure Lilo to boot Gentoo most likely.

In general, what I do is the following:
Install new distro to unpartitioned space (or in your case, new harddisk). Don't install new distro's boot loader.
Reboot into old distro. Mount partition/harddisk on which new distro resides (mkdir /mnt/newdistro && mount /dev/hdx? /mnt/newdistro).
Copy new distro's kernel to current /boot dir (cp /mnt/newdistro/vmlinuz /boot/gentoo).
Edit lilo.conf file and add section for new distro.
Run lilo
Reboot and see new distro on lilo menu.
